This report is a summary of activities Okmulgee County Emergency Management participated in and does not reflect all activities performed by or participated in by Okmulgee County Emergency Management.

During the reporting period, Emergency Management activities were focused primarily on continued response and recovery coordination related to the March 6 tornado event affecting the Beggs area, interagency coordination with state and federal partners, community engagement and ongoing preparedness initiatives. Efforts also included severe weather monitoring, infrastructure coordination and routine emergency management administrative responsibilities.

— Disaster Declaration Preparation

• Prepared a Disaster Declaration for the Board of County Commissioners to support ongoing recovery efforts and facilitate potential access to state and federal resources.

• Prepared a Disaster Declaration for the City of Beggs to formally document the impacts from the March 6 tornado and assist the city with recovery coordination and eligibility for assistance programs.

— Tornado Recovery & Community Coordination

• Met with volunteers in Beggs to begin coordination of organized volunteer cleanup operations to assist residents affected by the March 6 tornado.

• Provided guidance and assistance to local volunteer coordinators on best practices for managing donations and organizing volunteer efforts to ensure resources are distributed effectively and safely.

• Coordinated with the American Red Cross to initiate assistance and ensure victims impacted by the tornado receive all benefits and services available through Red Cross programs.

• Maintained regular coordination with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management throughout the week to provide updates on local damage assessments, recovery progress and support needs.

— Government & Community Meetings Attended the Beggs City Council Meeting, providing updates regarding:

• Tornado response and recovery progress

• Status and planning for the Outdoor Warning Siren System

• Implementation updates for the Genasys Protect Mass Notification System Attended the City of Morris City Council Meeting to provide updates on:

• Outdoor Warning Siren Project

• Genasys Protect Mass Notification System implementation and community alerting capabilities

• Attended the EMSAT Board Meeting — State & Federal Coordination

• Met with a representative from Senator James Lankford’s office to review tornado damage in the Beggs area and provide an update on ongoing response and recovery efforts.

• Coordinated with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation regarding scheduling a site visit related to outstanding infrastructure projects from the 2025 flooding event, particularly addressing coordination needs following recent staffing changes.

— Community Support Initiatives

• Met via phone and in person with representatives from Project:Camp to facilitate the establishment of a temporary day camp program for children impacted by the Beggs School tornado damage, providing a safe and supportive environment for affected families during recovery.

— Severe Weather Monitoring

• Monitored severe weather conditions on Tuesday evening with limited volunteer activation to ensure readiness should conditions escalate. No significant local impacts were reported.

— Floodplain Management

• Responded to three floodplain inquiries, providing guidance to residents regarding regulatory requirements, permitting processes and recommended next steps.

— Workplace Safety & Compliance

• One employee injury was reported during the reporting period. The incident was documented and handled in accordance with county reporting procedures.

• One employee drug screening was conducted in compliance with workplace safety and personnel policy requirements.

— Summary

The week’s efforts centered on coordinating tornado recovery operations, strengthening partnerships with volunteer organizations and state agencies and maintaining ongoing preparedness and community communication initiatives. Continued coordination with local, state and nonprofit partners remains essential to support affected residents and ensure efficient recovery progress.
