Beggs lifters represent well at championships
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Beggs Golden Demons powerlifting team made a strong showing at the state championship meet in El Reno, with several athletes competing at a high level and earning top finishes against some of the best lifters in Oklahoma. Led by a talented group of underclassmen and anchored by an experienced upperclassman, Beggs demonstrated both strength and depth on the state stage.

The freshman class made a significant impact, with three ninth-grade athletes qualifying and competing in their respective weight divisions. Braxton Frost competed in the 145-pound class and turned in an impressive performance across all three lifts. Frost recorded a 270-pound squat, a 170-pound bench press and a 365-pound deadlift. His consistency and strength earned him a fourthplace finish overall, a notable accomplishment for a first-year competitor at the state level.

Easton Bradley delivered one of the top performances for Beggs in the 157-pound weight class. Bradley posted a 340-pound squat, a 185-pound bench press and a 355-pound dead- lift. His combined effort secured a second-place overall finish, making him one of the top lifters in his division and highlighting his potential as a rising force in the program.

Grant Riley rounded out the freshman trio in the 242-pound weight class. Riley showcased his power with a 375-pound squat, a 200-pound bench press and a 405-pound deadlift. Competing in one of the heavier divisions, Riley held his own against experienced competitors and earned a fourth-place overall finish. His performance demonstrated both strength and composure under pressure.

Adding veteran leadership to the group was junior Jason Nethon, who competed in the 198-pound weight class. Nethon recorded a 385-pound squat, a 200-pound bench press and a 360-pound deadlift. While final placement was not listed, his totals reflected a strong outing and provided valuable experience competing at the state level.

As a team, Beggs showed balance across multiple weight classes, with lifters excelling in each of the three core disciplines – squat, bench press and deadlift. The ability of the athletes to post competitive numbers across all lifts was a key factor in their success at the meet.

The performance of the freshman class was particularly encouraging, as Frost, Bradley and Riley not only qualified for state but also placed among the top competitors in their divisions. Their results signal a bright future for Beggs powerlifting, with a strong foundation already in place for continued success in the coming years.

Competing at the state championship level requires discipline, preparation and mental toughness, and the Beggs athletes rose to the occasion. Facing some of the strongest competitors in Oklahoma, they demonstrated the ability to perform under pressure while representing their school with pride.

With multiple top finishes and valuable experience gained, the Beggs Demons powerlifting team leaves the state meet with momentum and confidence, setting the stage for continued growth and success in future seasons.
