The Preston Pirates delivered one of their most explosive performances of the young season Friday, blanking Victory Christian 2026, 11-0, behind a dominant outing from Kaden Dean and a huge offensive day from Braxton Clarkson.
Clarkson led the charge with a massive grand slam to left field in the second inning, part of a four-RBI performance that helped Preston put the game out of reach early.
Preston opened the scoring in the first inning when a Victory Christian error allowed two runs to cross the plate.
The Pirates then erupted for nine runs in the second inning, highlighted by a string of key hits. Nick Costanza singled to drive in a run, while Hunter McElhannon followed with an RBI single. Kaden Dean delivered a two-run single, Jace Basquez added a sacrifice fly and Braxton Clarkson capped the rally with his grand slam.
On the mound, Kaden Dean dominated from the start. The Preston left-hander struck out 11 batters over four innings, allowing just two hits and no runs while issuing only one walk.
Victory Christian starter Colton Vilar struggled early, giving up eight runs (six earned) on five hits in one inning while walking two.
The Pirates finished with nine hits in the contest. Preston also showed discipline at the plate, drawing six walks during the game. Bryce McNac led the team with two walks and was also active defensively, recording 12 fielding chances.
The Pirates were flawless defensively, committing no errors during the game.
For Victory Christian, Sean Kester and Journey Boswell each recorded a hit, while the team turned one double play.
Preston looked to continue its strong start when the Pirates traveled to Central on Monday for their next matchup.
