The Henryetta Knights put together a well-rounded effort Thursday, cruising to a 9-1 victory over Warner behind dominant pitching from EJ Glover and opportunistic offense.
Henryetta first broke through in the bottom of the second inning. Blaze Hill sparked the rally with a single down the left-field line. A balk by Warner pitcher Duncan and a Warner fielding error helped bring home additional runs, allowing the Knights to build early momentum.
The Knights continued to add to their lead in the third inning when Blake Silkwood delivered a single to center field that drove in two more runs.
On the mound, EJ Glover was nearly untouchable. The Henryetta hurler tossed six innings, allowing no hits and just one run – which was unearned – while striking out six and walking five to earn the victory.
Warner’s Duncan took the loss, pitching five innings while surrendering nine runs (six earned) on six hits, with two strikeouts and four walks.
At the plate, several Knights contributed to the offensive effort. Blake Silkwood led the team with two RBIs, finishing 1-for-3. Will Perez paced Henryetta with two hits in four at-bats, and Perez and Hunter Bowdler each recorded multiple stolen bases.
Henryetta showcased its speed throughout the game, swiping nine bases and consistently putting pressure on Warner’s defense. The Knights were also sharp in the field, turning one double play.
Henryetta will look to keep the momentum going when they host the Morris Eagles on Wednesday in their next matchup.
