Thomas Joseph Robertson

July 28, 1943 – February 13, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas Joseph Robertson announces his passing on February 13, 2026, in Tulsa at the age of 82. He was a resident of Okmulgee.

Tom was born July 28, 1943, near Okmulgee to Codie and Julia (Smith) Robertson. He grew up in Henryetta, where he attended school, graduating in 1961. Following graduation, he spent two years studying at Connors State College. Tom held various jobs in Henryetta and Okmulgee before finding his passion as a carpenter. Becoming a master of his craft, Tom could build anything with his hands. Whether the work was for family, friend, or stranger, he would not settle for anything less than perfection. Even years after leaving the profession, he continued to receive calls from former customers who begged him to come out of retirement and work for them one more time.

In addition to carpentry, in 1978 Tom was hired as a firefighter with the Okmulgee Fire Department, a job he loved and a brotherhood that produced many long and lasting friendships. He retired from the Okmulgee Fire Department as a Captain on May 31, 2003.

He was blessed to have two careers doing what he truly enjoyed, and anyone fortunate enough to cross his path while he was engaged in either of them was sure to have a most memorable experience.

In 1976, Tom married Hattie, his great love and true partner in life. They would spend the next 48 years together filling their days with love and laughter. Hattie brought three daughters into Tom’s life, joining his two and creating one wonderful extended family to love. Tom was proud to be known as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. If you were blessed to count yourself among his friends and family, you found that there was nothing he would not do for you. His teachings, stories, wit and sense of humor will long be remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Codie and Julia Robertson; his wife, Hattie Robertson; his daughter, Lori Artussee; and his grandson, Laramie Grammer.

He is survived by his daughters, Becky Thomas of Henryetta, Carrie Daniels and husband Raymond, Jo Dunlap and Robin Miller, all of Okmulgee; his sister, June Minyard of Henryetta; his brother, Bob Robertson and wife Pat of Brunswick, Georgia; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and loved ones.

A celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at The Refuge Church, 1206 W. 5th Street in Okmulgee, with Thomas Johnson officiating.
