Preston, Morris archers shine at State Grand Nationals

Oklahoma’s biggest archery stage brought out the very best in local talent as the Preston and Morris archery teams competed at the 2026 State Grand Nationals. Facing some of the strongest programs in the state, both schools delivered impressive performances highlighted by personal bests, perfect 50s, Top 10 finishes and record-setting team scores. — Morris Archery peaks at the perfect moment

The Morris archery program delivered one of its strongest collective performances of the season at Grand State, with both the Elementary School and Middle School squads posting season-high team scores.

— Morris Elementary

• Team Score: 2840

• Placement: 7th out of 27 teams invited • Six Personal Bests Recorded The Morris ES team rose to the occasion with six archers shooting personal best scores at the biggest tournament of the year:

• Raven Simons – 260

• Colton Macaluso – 237

• Brylee Morris – 234

• Everly Felts – 233

• Ethan Taliaferro – 223

• Rose Cook – 223

• Lakelyn Mabrey – Shot a perfect 50 end Finishing seventh among 27 elite teams marked a major accomplishment and showcased the depth of Morris’ youngest competitors.

Morris Middle School

• Team Score: 3204

• Placement: 6th out of 30 teams

• Three Personal Bests The Morris Middle School team turned in an even stronger placement, finishing sixth in a 30-team field.

• McKinley Boatner – 283, 6th Place, Perfect 50 at 10 meters

• Kurt Hunnicutt – 274, Perfect 50 at 10 meters

• Jamie Ritter – 269 Boatner’s sixth-place individual finish in the girls’ division was a standout highlight, while multiple perfect 50s underscored the team’s precision under pressure.

— Morris High School

• Final State Rank: 21st out of 27 teams

• Two Personal Bests

• Chrissy Wilson – 272

• Tyler Oglesby – 265 Though the high school squad finished 21st overall, the personal milestones reflect continued growth within the program.

The Morris teams wrapped up the memorable day with a celebratory team meal and plenty of pride in what they accomplished. Coaches praised the athletes’ enthusiasm and confidence, noting the positive energy that carried throughout the competition.

— Preston earns Top 5 State finish The Preston Pirates archery program also made a major statement at the State Grand Nationals, highlighted by a Top 5 overall finish in the Middle School division.

— Preston Middle School

• Overall Rank: 5th in the Top 10 statewide Competing against powerhouse programs from Jenks (High, Middle and Elementary), Bixby (High and Middle), Owasso (High and 8th Grade Center), Coweta (High and Junior High), Muldrow (High, Middle and Elementary), Sand Springs (Charles Page High, Garfield and Pratt Elementary), Sallisaw, Glenpool and many more, Preston’s Top 5 finish stands as a significant accomplishment.

• Nikolai Drawbaugh – 246

• Blake Story – 246 — Preston High School • Maleik Terrill – 245

• Isabella Turner – 235

• Strayden Barnes – 212 — Preston Elementary

• Easton Bradford – 235

• Blayde Allen – 223

• Jentrie Carter – 210 -With Morris finishing seventh and sixth in large divisions and Preston earning a Top 5 Middle School placement, Okmulgee County was well represented at Grand State.
