Dragons battle hard, fall at Area Tournament
By Patrick Ford Editor

The Dewar Dragons wrapped up their season Tuesday night with a hard-fought 59-51 contest against Porum, battling from start to finish in a physical matchup that showcased the team’s grit and determination.

Dewar kept things close early, trailing just 16-6 at the end of the first quarter before settling in offensively in the second. The Dragons found their rhythm in the middle frames, trimming the halftime deficit to 23-16 and continuing to chip away in the third quarter. By the end of three, Dewar remained within striking distance, down 40-25.

The Dragons put together their strongest push in the fourth quarter, erupting for 20 points in the final frame. Dewar’s offensive surge cut into the lead and kept pressure on their opponent until the final horn, but the comeback effort ultimately fell just short, with the Dragons finishing at 51 points.

Dewar’s offense was fueled by a balanced attack throughout the night.

Joseph Moore led the way with 10 points, including a strong second-quarter performance. Tanner Wilson added valuable production with key baskets spread across both halves, while Lukas Walden provided a spark in the third quarter, knocking down multiple field goals to keep Dewar within reach.

Trindyn Lewis contributed in the second half, and Stoney Yaerger delivered timely baskets in the fourth quarter as part of Dewar’s late rally. Johnny Wilson also chipped in with important points during the Dragons’ final push.

The Dragons showed resilience on both ends of the floor, battling through fouls and defensive pressure while continuing to compete on every possession.

Though the final score did not fall in Dewar’s favor, the Dragons demonstrated heart and perseverance, particularly in their 20-point fourth quarter effort. The team’s ability to fight until the final buzzer reflected the growth and determination shown throughout the season.

With contributions coming from across the roster – including Braelin Lewis, JoJo Waters and Braxton Weibe – Dewar closed out the year with a performance that highlighted teamwork and resolve.

The Dragons finish the season with plenty to build on and look ahead to next year with experience gained and momentum from a competitive finale.
