• Okmulgee’s public schools received high praise from Mrs. Anna L. Burdick, a federal agent for trade and industrial education, after her recent inspection of the district. In a letter shared with Superintendent E. S. Briggs, Burdick commended the system for meeting the needs of every type of student and for its willingness to support adult education as well. Her remarks described Okmulgee’s schools as unusually strong and suggested that eastern educators would be surprised to see such a well-rounded program in operation.
• Okmulgee leaders prepared to welcome the new Chamber of Commerce secretary with a community-wide
local participation in upcoming events, including a two-night program that had proven profitable in other cities. Representatives from the American Legion’s Radio Post 300 also outlined ideas for broadcasting Okmulgee talent over their Oklahoma City station. In addition, a committee was appointed to work with the Fire and Casualty Insurance Association on a campaign to reduce fire hazards through inspections, public education and better safety practices throughout the city.
