Preston School drama students are inviting the community to enjoy an evening of laughter, mistaken identities and timeless storytelling, as they present William Shakespeare’s beloved comedy “The Twelfth Night” later this month.
The production will be staged at the Morris School Auditorium, giving local audiences a chance to see the Preston Drama program showcase its hard work and talent in a full-scale theatrical performance. Known for its witty dialogue and humorous misunderstandings, “The Twelfth Night” follows a tangled web of secret identities, unexpected romances and comic confusion that has entertained audiences for centuries.
The play centers on Viola, who is shipwrecked and disguises herself as a young man named Cesario. What follows is a fast-paced and often hilarious chain of events as Duke Orsino falls for Olivia, Olivia falls for Cesario, and Viola secretly loves the Duke-while Viola’s twin brother Sebastian unexpectedly reappears, adding even more confusion to the mix.
The result is a clever, lighthearted comedy that blends romance, humor and heart.
Students involved in the production have been rehearsing extensively, working to bring Shakespeare’s language and characters to life in a way that is both engaging and accessible for modern audiences. From costumes and stage movement to timing and delivery, the cast and crew have worked together to create a polished and entertaining performance.
Showtimes are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, at 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. Admission is affordable, with tickets priced at $5 for students and $10 for adults, making it a great opportunity for families and community members to support local students and enjoy live theatre.
Community members are encouraged to attend and support the Preston School Drama students as they take the stage with one of Shakespeare’s most enduring comedies. With humor, romance and plenty of surprises, “The Twelfth Night” promises an entertaining experience for audiences of all ages.
