The smell of homemade pies and the spirit of community support will once again fill the air as the Okmulgee Ag Boosters prepare for their 8th Annual Pie & Silent Auction, set for this Thursday, Feb. 19, from 6-8 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds.
The annual event has become a favorite tradition for many in the community, bringing together families, supporters and local businesses for an evening of food, fellowship and fundraising in support of the Okmulgee FFA chapter and agricultural education programs.
Organizers say the evening promises plenty of fun, along with dinner and the chance to bid on a wide variety of items in the silent auction. Of course, the highlight of the night remains the homemade desserts that are auctioned off to help raise funds for students involved in FFA activities, competitions and leadership opportunities.
The Okmulgee FFA chapter plays an important role in preparing students for careers in agriculture, leadership and skilled trades. Through hands-on learning, livestock projects, public speaking, and community service, FFA members gain valuable experience that often shapes their futures. Events such as the Pie & Silent Auction help ensure students have the resources needed to participate in shows, travel to contests, and continue expanding agricultural programs.
Community involvement is a key part of the event’s success, and organizers are encouraging residents to take part in several ways. Those who enjoy baking are invited to donate homemade pies or other baked goods, while businesses and families may also contribute gift baskets or items for the silent auction.
Anyone interested in making a donation is asked to contact Ms. Stewart at Bstewart@okmulgeeps. com.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and plan to attend the 8th Annual Okmulgee Ag Booster Pie & Silent Auction on Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds, and come ready to bid, enjoy good food and support the next generation of agricultural leaders.
