‘The Sun’ll Come Out Tomorrow’
By Patrick Ford Editor

There’s a sense of excitement in the air at Henryetta High School as the curtain prepares to rise on one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

After months of rehearsals, choreography, set work and costume preparation, H-Town Theatre is ready to present its production of “Annie,” opening Friday and continuing through the weekend.

Before the public debut, the cast and crew gave special preview performances Wednesday for Henryetta students and again Thursday for visiting students from surrounding schools. The advance audiences were treated to a lively showcase of music, humor and heart, offering a glimpse of the energy and talent that will take center stage for the official performances.

Directed by Justin Been and co-directed by Liz Bealko, the production represents months of dedication by students and volunteers who have been working since last fall to bring the timeless story to life.

Performances are scheduled for:

• Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. (Opening Night)

• Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

• Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. Audiences will experience the classic Broadway musical that has captured hearts for nearly five decades. Since premiering in 1977, Annie has become known worldwide for its unforgettable songs, spirited choreography and uplifting message of hope, resilience and the belief that better days are always ahead.

The story follows Annie, a spirited orphan with boundless optimism and a loyal dog named Sandy, as she dreams of finding her family and a brighter future. Along the way, she encounters the wealthy Oliver Warbucks, the elegant Grace Farrell and the hilariously villainous Miss Hannigan, along with a colorful cast of characters who bring humor, mischief and warmth to the stage.

From the mischievous orphans to the larger-thanlife personalities of Rooster Hannigan and Lily St. Regis, each role offers moments that are sure to entertain audiences of all ages. Featured appearances by characters such as President Roosevelt, radio personality Bert Healy and the Boylan Sisters add musical flair and historical charm to the production.

Organizers say the show truly has something for everyone – high-energy musical numbers, comedic moments, heartfelt scenes and the timeless songs that generations have grown up singing.

The production features a large cast made up primarily of Henryetta High School students, with participation from select middle school performers as well. For many of the students, this marks a chance to shine in the spotlight and share their talents with the community.

Tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for students, and will be available at the door on performance nights. Cash-only sales will be offered at the box office.

Adding to the weekend festivities, the Henryetta Knight Brigade, in partnership with the Henryetta Band Boosters, will host Annie’s Pre-Musical Valentine Dinner on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Henryetta High School cafeteria. The event is designed as a festive pre-show gathering, giving families, couples and community members a chance to enjoy a meal together before attending the evening performance. Proceeds will help support Henryetta’s student musicians and performing arts programs.

Directors and organizers encourage the public to attend and support the students who have invested countless hours into the production.

With its uplifting message and memorable music, Annie continues to remind audiences that hope, kindness and perseverance can change lives. And this weekend, Henryetta audiences will have the chance to experience that message live on stage.

For theatergoers looking for a fun night out or a Valentine’s weekend activity filled with music and laughter, H-Town Theatre’s Annie promises to deliver a performance that will leave audiences smiling long after the final curtain falls.
