It was a busy and rewarding week for Morris Eagles Archery as the program hosted its local tournament Feb. 5-7, welcoming competitors and showcasing the depth of talent across its elementary, middle school and high school teams. By the end of the event, the Eagles had claimed multiple team honors, numerous individual medals, and an impressive list of personal-best performances – a strong showing as the teams now set their sights on the upcoming Grand State competition.
— MHS team claims runner-up finish The Morris High School archery team turned in a strong performance, finishing second overall in team standings.
Leading the way was Makenzie Stacy, who placed fourth in the girls division. Close behind were Katelyn Sparkman and Ella Stone, who finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Stone also achieved a milestone, shooting a personal-best score of 273, one of the highlights of the weekend.
Additional high school standouts included:
• Addison Boone, who finished in the Top 10
• Jake Steele, who led the boys division for Morris and also placed in the Top 10 — MMS wins division title
The Morris Middle School archers delivered one of the most impressive performances of the tournament, capturing first place in their division.
Kash Walters set the tone with a personal-best score and a first-place individual finish. Kyla Wisnewski also shot a personal best to claim fourth place, while Sophie Hildebrant earned fifth place.
Several middle school archers recorded personal-best scores during the event, including Kurt Hunnicutt, Gunner Harding, Cole Casey, Jude Gaches, Halia Salyer, Colin Taliaferro, Braxton Lawson, Camden Fixico, Chloe Edmonds, Eli Guillioli, Andrew Carter, Jaelynn Stalnaker, Anna Kessler and Willa Brown.
— Elementary team earns third place Morris Elementary School archers also had a strong showing, finishing third as a team.
Abigail Deubel earned second place with a personal-best score, while Brennon Routt placed fourth individually.
Personal-best scores were also recorded by Brynlee Bardin, Brynlee Morris, Rose Cook, Rylie Summey, Brenley Jones, Mirrick Poorman, Ryleigh Davis, Quest Walton and Brecken Quinn.
— New 3D division proves a success This year’s tournament featured the addition of a 3D archery division, which proved popular among participants and added another competitive element to the event.
The Morris High School 3D team placed third overall.
Raelie Gilmour shot a personal best and earned third place, while Talee Zackery recorded a personal best and finished fifth.
Hunter George and Addison Boone also turned in personal-best performances.
The Morris Middle School 3D team finished second overall, led by:
• McKinlee Boatner, who shot a personal best and placed second
• Kash Walters, who placed fourth
• Sophie Hildebrant, who shot a personal best and earned fourth place Other middle school archers shooting personal bests in 3D competition included Kurt Hunnicutt, Mason Gaither, Halia Salyer, Jamie Ritter, Braxton Lawson, Aidan Ritter, Tryton Lamb, Hensley Eyer and Sadie Hildebrant.
— Fundraiser, Family Archery Night builds community spirit In addition to competition, the program hosted a Shoot-A-Thon fundraiser and Family Archery Night, giving archers an opportunity to shoot alongside family members in a friendly, competitive environment.
The highlight of the evening was the Family Flight competition, where archers teamed with relatives for a scoring round. The event was filled with laughter, playful coaching, and spirited competition, with many students guiding parents through scoring and commands on the range.

The Oklahoma State/Grand State is Feb. 25-26 at the Tulsa Expo Center. The event is for elementary through high school competitors.
