The Academy of Okmulgee is proud to host its upcoming Black History Month Youth Showcase on Friday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rowe Family Life Center, and youth across Okmulgee County are invited to participate.
The showcase will celebrate creativity, culture, and community by highlighting the talents of local youth. Students and youth groups are encouraged to share performances and presentations including poetry, spoken word, dance, music, choir selections, drill team performances, artwork and Black History Month presentations.
The evening will also feature Guest Youth Speaker Brayden Currin- King, who will deliver an inspiring message to attendees.
“This event is about uplifting and celebrating the incredible talent and voices of young people in our community,” said Mrs. Harbin. “We want to create a space where youth feel seen, valued and empowered.”
Church youth groups, community organizations, school groups, choirs, drill teams and individual performers from across Okmulgee County are welcome to participate.
Those interested in being part of the showcase should contact Mrs. Shirlanna Harbin at Shirlanna.harbin@theacademyof.org or 918-933-8477 to secure their spot.
The community is invited to attend and support Okmulgee County’s youth during this special Black History Month celebration.
