1 Corinthians 10:23 – “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
Our country allows us many freedoms of choice and, as long as we are not bringing harm to others, we are generally not breaking the law. But just because we can do something does not necessarily also mean we should. The world teaches if it feels good, do it. But does that philosophy take into account the effect our behavior may have on others? As Christians, we must consider others first because that is what Jesus did. Is what we do pleasing to Him; is it how He would act? We must learn to think and pray and to make that as natural as breathing. To become an imitator of Christ, we must know Him and know Him well, and to do that, we must study God’s Word purposefully and deliberately, not occasionally and haphazardly. If ever there was anyone you wanted to be like, choose Jesus now. He fulfills all needs and, when we let Him, all desires. What better design to imitate could there ever be?
