Early voting begins Thursday for county

Early voting for Okmulgee County residents begins Thursday, giving voters a convenient option ahead of Election Day on Feb. 10. The early voting period is designed for voters who may be unable to cast a ballot on Election Day or who prefer to vote early to avoid lines and scheduling conflicts.

Early voting will be conducted at the Okmulgee County Election Board office, located inside the Okmulgee County Courthouse at 314 W. 7th Street, Room 102, in Okmulgee, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Ashley Carnes, secretary of the Okmulgee Coun- ty Election Board, emphasized that early voting is available to all eligible voters without restriction.

“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early,” Carnes said. “Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the County Election Board or State Election Board – from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for voters who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines.”

– Elections on the Ballot During early voting, eligible voters may cast ballots in the following:

• Municipal Election for the City of Okmulgee Councilmember, Ward 2

• Special School Bond Elections for Henryetta Public Schools

• Special School Bond Election for Twin Hills Public Schools Election officials reminded voters that having a child enrolled in a school district does not automatically make a person eligible to vote in that district’s bond election. Voter eligibility should be verified through the OK Voter Portal on the Oklahoma State Election Board website or by contacting the Okmulgee County Election Board directly. If no sample ballot appears in the OK Voter Portal, the voter is not eligible to participate in the upcoming election.

Carnes also noted that early voting does not take place at regular polling locations and is available only at the County Election Board office.

Voters who are blind or visually impaired, physically disabled, infirmed, illiterate, or otherwise require assistance may receive help from a person of their choice or vote privately and independently using the Accessible Voting Device (ATI). Voters needing assistance are encouraged to speak with a precinct official or contact the County Election Board in advance for guidance.

For additional information about early voting, voter eligibility or assistance options, voters may contact the Okmulgee County Election Board at 918-756-2365 or OkmulgeeCounty@elections. ok.gov.

Election officials encourage all eligible voters to make a plan and take advantage of early voting to ensure their voices are heard in these important local elections.
