• County officials launched a crackdown on local Prohibition violators by padlocking the Marquette Hotel on E. Main after a raid uncovered more than seven gallons of corn whiskey and dozens of empty bottles. The operators, Mrs. N.A. Stephenson and W.O. Glandon, were arrested and charged, while roomers were quickly forced to vacate the building. Officers hinted that more rooming houses would face similar action.
