The Nuyaka Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD), located in Okmulgee County, is a complete volunteer organization that provides first response to vehicle accidents, fire protection and various alarm calls, etc. They also provide mutual aid to several surrounding fire departments when requested. NVFD’s service area includes approximately 2,000 residents, their land and possessions. John Veloria serves as Fire Chief along with numerous other volunteers. He also serves as assistant for the Schulter Volunteer Fire Department.

Each year, the department holds a large fundraiser event to raise additional funds for necessary equipment.
