mUSCOGEE NATION lighthorse TRIBAL police department

The jurisdiction of the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department encompasses eight full counties and three partial counties in Northeast Oklahoma.

Richard Phillips serves as Lighthorse Chief of Police.

It is the mission of the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department Communications Division to safeguard the lives and property of the people they serve, to reduce the incidence of fear and crime and to enhance public safety while working with the communities within the Muscogee Nation to improve their quality of life. Their mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times conducting themselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence.

The Patrol Division is a group of individuals assigned to patrol the reservation in cruisers. They enforce tribal and state laws and help prevent crimes under the best investigators, along with protecting lives, property and human rights.

The K9 Unit has proven to be an extremely valuable asset in investigating criminal activity. With the help of animal companions, this unit specializes in locating hidden people/contraband in areas under investigation.

The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating major crimes that occur in the Muscogee Nation. These investigators generally investigate crimes that require specialized training in areas with a high crime rate.

The Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department is proud to be the first Tribal Police Exploring Post in the state of Oklahoma. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program created by the Boy Scouts of America, a group of people who aspire to enter law enforcement in the future. This program is also a way to get young people involved in their communities through community service and show how much love they can give back.
