The Beggs Police Department (BPD) is entering 2026 with new leadership, updated equipment and a renewed commitment to public safety as it continues to serve the citizens of Beggs following a year of significant transition and growth.
Daniel Gilbert was appointed Interim Chief of Police on Jan. 5. Gilbert joined the City of Beggs as a patrolman in April 2025, and has also served as a part-time police officer for Beggs Public Schools since October 2023, which played a key role in drawing him to law enforcement service with the city.
Gilbert brings more than 38 years of law enforcement experience to the position. His career began in late 1987 with the Lincoln County Sheriff ’s Department, where he started as a reserve deputy. In September 2006, he attended the full-time police academy in Ada, becoming part of the first class to train at that facility. Over the years, Gilbert has served in a variety of roles, including patrolman, corrections officer, Police Officer III (Sergeant) and training officer. His dedication to duty and to the communities he has served is cited as one of his strongest attributes.
The BPD is currently staffed by four full-time police officers, including Interim Chief Gilbert, Officer Cody Burton, Officer Kadence Stanton and Officer Jimmy “J.J.” Roe. Officers Burton, Stanton and Roe are in the early stages of their law enforcement careers, and, in the short time they have been with the department, have demonstrated strong dedication to the safety of Beggs residents and service to the community.
The department is supported by a communications team consisting of two full-time dispatchers and four part-time dispatchers. Dispatch staff includes Constance Turner, who also serves as city court clerk and dispatch supervisor, along with Jeff Rogers, Dakota Dugger, Victoria Gist, Emily Donaho and Jake Palacio. Dispatch services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, supporting both the City of Beggs and its police and fire departments. The department credits the dedication of its dispatchers as essential to maintaining continuous public safety services for the community.
The Beggs Police Department provides law enforcement services throughout the city, working on behalf of local residents to promote public safety and enforce laws within the community. Over the past 12 months, the department has made notable improvements to its operational capacity, including upgrades to its patrol fleet and body-worn camera systems. The department has also pursued multiple funding opportunities through law enforcement grant programs.
According to department information, the past year marked a period of substantial change. Despite challenges, the department reports emerging from that time in a stronger position to serve the public. During the last year, officers handled more than 152 reports and calls for service within the community, representing a doubling of call volume compared to 2024.
As the new year begins, the Beggs Police Department has emphasized its intention to strengthen relationships with local residents and to continue serving every member of the community with fairness and respect. Department leadership expressed a focus on fostering a safer and stronger Beggs, noting that while most residents already work to uphold the values that define the community, continued collaboration remains central to that goal.
