Patrons Bank Invitational tips off with dominant performances from Allen, Wewoka

The opening rounds of the Patrons Bank Tournament got underway Jan. 21 in Preston, with area teams delivering decisive performances and setting the tone early in the week-long event.

Behind balanced scoring and strong defensive efforts, both Allen and Wewoka opened tournament play with convincing wins, while Silo and Red Oak looked to regroup as the bracket continued.

— Allen dominates Silo, 60-42

Allen used a steady offensive pace and consistent scoring in every quarter to pull away from Silo for a 60-42 win in opening-round action.

The Mustangs jumped out early and never relinquished control, building a 10-point first-quarter lead before extending the margin to 24-8 at halftime. Allen continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring Silo 20-14 in the third quarter and closing strong to secure the victory.

Allen’s offense featured contributions throughout the lineup, with multiple players finding the basket across all four quarters. The Mustangs’ ability to convert in transition and control the glass proved to be the difference, as they steadily widened the gap in the final eight minutes.

Silo stayed competitive behind spurts of scoring from its senior-led group, but struggled to keep pace with Allen’s depth and tempo.

—- Wewoka bests Red Oak in 61-29 opener Wewoka wasted little time asserting itself in its tournament opener, rolling past Red Oak 61-29 with a dominant showing on both ends of the floor.

The Tigers jumped out to a 22-8 first-quarter lead and extended the advantage to 45-13 at halftime, effectively putting the game out of reach early. Wewoka continued to apply defensive pressure in the second half, holding Red Oak to single-digit scoring in both remaining quarters.

Senior leadership and quick ball movement fueled Wewoka’s offensive attack, with scoring spread across the roster as the Tigers maintained control throughout the contest.

Red Oak battled hard but struggled to generate consistent offense against Wewoka’s defense, managing just 16 points after halftime.
