Crossroads Classic shifts to midweek

Due to forecasted inclement weather expected over the weekend, tournament officials moved the Checotah Wildcat Crossroads Classic to a Wednesday- through-Friday format, allowing both the girls and boys brackets to proceed without interruption.

The schedule change pushed all first-round games to Wednesday, with semifinal and placement games played Thursday and championship contests slated for Friday.

— Lady Knights fall in tight opener The Henryetta Lady Knights opened tournament play Wednesday afternoon against Hilldale, dropping a hardfought 22-21 decision in one of the closest games of the opening round.

Henryetta trailed 1413 at halftime but stayed within striking distance throughout the second half as both teams struggled to find offensive rhythm in a low-scoring defensive battle. Hilldale managed to edge ahead late and held on in the closing moments to secure the one-point victory.

Henryetta received balanced scoring from several players in the loss.

Jordyn Goodman led the Lady Knights with four points, while Zoe Boatright and Khalee Wynne followed up with two points each.

Despite the setback, the Lady Knights remained competitive throughout the contest, limiting Hilldale’s scoring opportunities and keeping the game undecided until the final possession.

On Thursday, teams advanced into consolation and championship semifinal play, setting the stage for Friday’s final placement games.

Friday’s girls schedule includes:

• Consolation Championship – 11a.m.

• Third-Place Game – 2 p.m.

• Tournament Championship – 5 p.m.

— Boys bracket continues into Friday The Henryetta boys opened tournament play Wednesday evening against Eufaula, falling 62-35 to a talented Ironhead squad. Semifinal action continued Thursday, with final placement games scheduled Friday, including the Consolation Championship at 12:30 p.m., the Third-Place Game at 2:30 p.m. and the Tournament Championship at 6:30 p.m.

Tournament play concludes Friday evening at Checotah, with updated results and final standings to be reported following championship action.
