Students at The Academy of Okmulgee marked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a meaningful Day of Service focused on giving back to the local community. Following the school’s MLK Day program, sixth- through ninthgrade students volunteered at the YMCA, assisting with service projects, while fifth-grade students remained on campus for the school’s Spartans Service Day, helping beautify the grounds by picking up trash and caring for shared spaces. The service projects reflected Dr. King’s legacy of leadership, responsibility and community involvement, emphasizing action alongside reflection in honoring his life and message.
