Community Garden to hold bi-annual meeting

Members of the Okmulgee County Community Garden are invited to attend the Garden’s first bi-annual meeting of the year on Thursday, Jan. 22. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds. Members should have received official notification of the meeting.

“For the first time, we are providing a meal prior to the business session,” Kay Rabbitt-Brower, chairman of the garden’s board of directors, said. “We’re having delicious beef brisket with tasty side dishes and desserts. The meal begins at 5:30 p.m.”

Rabbitt-Brower added the meeting includes general business reports, along with the formation of a nominating committee who will present a slate of candidates for the June board election.

“We are also going to share updates to the garden’s expansion project,” she said. “We are very excited about what is happening at the Garden, and what the project means for the garden’s future. Work has already begun, and we are eager to tell the members about it.”

She says members will be able to renew their memberships and pay their $10 yearly dues. Plot applications will also be available. Prize drawings will also take place before the meeting concludes.

Rabbitt-Brower reminds members attendance at least one bi-annual each year is a requirement of garden membership.
