Bulldogs head to Morrison for Mike Kerr Classic

The Okmulgee Bulldogs boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Morrison next week to compete in the Mike Kerr Classic, a multi-day tournament hosted by Morrison Public Schools that features a strong slate of area programs and a packed schedule from Thursday through Saturday.

Both Okmulgee squads are set for opening-round matchups on Thursday, with potential paths to championship games on Saturday depending on results.

— Lady Dogs draw Pawnee in opening round The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs will open tournament play on Thursday at 4:20 p.m. against Pawnee in the girls bracket. That matchup is scheduled for the first round of competition, with the winner advancing to a Friday night semifinal.

If Okmulgee advances, the Lady Bulldogs would play again on Friday at 7 p.m., with a chance to move on to the championship round on Saturday evening. The girls championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m., while consolation games are set throughout the day, including games at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The girls bracket also includes Morrison, Luther, OCA, Pawhuska, Stillwater JV and Frontier, giving the Lady Bulldogs a competitive field to navigate.

— Bulldogs open against Pawhuska

On the boys side, the Okmulgee Bulldogs are slated to face Pawhuska in their opening- round game on Thursday at 3 p.m. A win would send Okmulgee into a Friday evening matchup at 5:40 p.m., keeping them in contention for the championship.

The boys championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m., with additional placement games taking place earlier in the day at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Joining Okmulgee in the boys bracket are Morrison, Luther, Frontier, Pawnee, OCA, Spartans and Pawhuska, setting up a demanding tournament slate over three days.

— Tournament Notes

According to tournament information provided by Morrison Public Schools, teams listed on the top line of each matchup will wear light-colored uniforms and will dress in the home locker room.

With both Okmulgee teams opening play Thursday and multiple games possible across the weekend, the Mike Kerr Classic provides the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs an opportunity to test themselves against varied competition while gaining valuable mid-season experience.

Fans following Okmulgee basketball can expect an intense and fast-paced tournament atmosphere as the Bulldogs take the floor in Morrison next week.
