‘26 Sanitation schedule released

The City of Okmulgee has released its official 2026 Sanitation Trash Removal Schedule, outlining holiday observances and route adjustments that will affect both residential Polycart customers and commercial dumpster customers throughout the year.

City officials are reminding residents and businesses to review the schedule carefully, as no sanitation routes will run on certain holidays, and collections will be shifted to accommodate those closures.

— Polycart (Residential) Customers According to the schedule, all Polycart customers will observe the following holidays in 2026:

• Thanksgiving Day

• Christmas Day

• New Year’s Day No residential trash routes will run on these days. When one of these holidays falls on a weekday, the City of Okmulgee Sanitation Department will shift collection one day later for the holiday and for all remaining service days that week.

— Example of a Weekday Holiday Shift

If a holiday falls on a Monday:

• Monday collection will occur on Tuesday

• Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday

• Wednesday collection will occur on Thursday

• Thursday collection will occur on Friday

• Friday collection will occur on Saturday If a holiday falls on a Tuesday, Monday routes will remain on their regular schedule. However, collections for Tuesday through Friday will shift one day later to accommodate the holiday.

City officials urge residents to adjust their trash placement accordingly during holiday weeks to avoid missed service.

— Commercial Dumpster Customers

The City also provided a detailed list of holiday observances affecting commercial dumpster routes in 2026. On these dates, no routes will run, and collection days will be adjusted as follows:

• Monday, Jan. 19 – Monday route will run on Tuesday

• Monday, Feb. 16 – Monday route will run on Tuesday

• Friday, April 3 – Friday route will run on Thursday • Monday, May 25 – Monday route will run on Tuesday

• Friday, June 19 – Friday route will run on Thursday • Friday, July 3 – Friday route will run on Thursday

• Monday, Sept. 7 – Monday route will run on Tuesday

• Wednesday, Nov. 11 – Wednesday route will run on Thursday

• Thursday, Nov. 26 & Friday, Nov. 27 – Crews will run on Thanksgiving Day

• Thursday, Dec. 24 & Friday, Dec. 25 – Crews will run on Christmas Eve — Important Reminder for Customers

The City of Okmulgee encourages all sanitation customers, both residential and commercial, to take note of these dates and schedule changes to ensure timely trash service throughout 2026.

For additional questions regarding sanitation services or route schedules, residents may contact the City of Okmulgee at 918-756-4060.
