Richard “Rick” Z. Potts

Richard “Rick” Z. Potts, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Okmulgee, at the age of 72. He was born on October 10, 1953, in Tulsa to Richard and Loreta Potts.

Rick graduated from McAlester High School in 1971. He later attended Southeastern University before moving to the Oklahoma City area, where he met the love of his life, Pamela Jenkins. The two were married on May 15, 1976, in Choctaw, and shared 49 years of marriage together.

In 1984, Rick convinced Pam to move to Okmulgee, where his family operated their longtime family business. Rick worked in

the service industry for several companies before eventually taking over the family business himself.

Rick enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. He also had a fondness for horse races and could certainly hold his own at a good hand of blackjack. A devoted sports fan, Rick was a true Dallas Cowboys supporter and later added the Oklahoma City Thunder to his roster of favorite teams.

Rick was very supportive of the Okmulgee community and had a unique way of making a lasting impact on many people throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Rick is survived by his wife, Pam Potts; his children, Jennifer Jones and husband Eric, Joshua Potts, Richard “Zeke” Potts, and Alice Potts; his grandson, Jameson Potts; and his sister, Linda Smith and husband Albert.

A celebration of life will be announced for Rick at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Richard’s Tribute Page at www. mcclendon-winters.com.
