Kristie Lynn Goodwin

May 16, 1972

Kristie Lynn Goodwin, 53, of Baxter Springs, Kansas went home peacefully to Heaven in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family. She was born May 16, 1972, in Okmulgee. Kristie was the daughter of Pamela Theolet and Carl Goodwin.

Kristie was diagnosed with Rett syndrome at 15 months old. She lived a full and happy life, lovingly cared for by her mother. Kristie loved the color pink and enjoyed rocking to music, most often at church. She loved eating Reese’s candy, cuddling with her stuffed animals and especially loved her family.

Kristie was preceded in death by her father, Carl Goodwin; her paternal grandparents, Oral and Betty Goodwin; her maternal grandparents, Myrtle “Theolet” Evins and Lester Theolet; and Floyd Keith Evins. She was also preceded in death by many aunts and uncles who loved her dearly.

Survivors include her mother, Pamela Theolet, of the home; her sisters, Cindy Hughes and husband John Hughes of Columbus, Kansas; Valerie Goodwin of Okmulgee; and Carla Rice and husband Harvey Rice of Henryetta; her nieces, Sarah Fisher, Alyssa Goodwin, Bree Goodwin and Kayla Looney; her nephews, Phillip Rice, Dallas Scott, Denver and Dayton Hughes; her great-nephews, Jackson Turner and Grayson Fisher; and her great-nieces, Kennedy, Brooklyn and Melody Geenen.

A celebration of life will be officiated by Ron Storey Saturday, December 27, at 12 p.m. Service will be held at Derfelt Funeral Home, 132 E. Pine in Columbus, Kansas, where family will be receiving friends at 11 a.m. until service time. Burial services will follow at Edgmand Cemetery.
