Dennis Eugene Dossey

August 1, 1947 – December 13, 2025

Dennis Eugene Dossey passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 1, 1947, in Texarkana, Ark. to Marvin and Ethel (McDonald) Dossey, and was raised in Preston. Dennis attended school and played basketball and baseball, and participated in field and track. Dennis continued his support of the Preston Pirates attending many sporting events.

Dennis proudly enlisted in and served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he attended Tulsa Technology Center, where he earned a certificate in drafting. He began his career with the City of Okmulgee, working in many capacities over the years before retiring in 1997.

During the early years of his career with the City of Okmulgee, Dennis met the love of his life, Sherry Middleton, during an audit. They were married on October 2, 1982, and shared many wonderful years together.

Dennis was a devoted father and could often be found at the ball field watching his boys play baseball, always keeping a watchful eye on the game – and the umpires. He possessed a remarkable singing voice and sang with several professional groups at various venues, but he could most often be found singing special music in church. He enjoyed woodworking, creating everything from small handcrafted items for craft shows to larger pieces such as bookcases. He loved fishing almost as much as he enjoyed eating fish. A devoted sports fan, Dennis could always be found cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks in whatever they competed in. He was faithful in his daily morning Bible reading and lived his life firmly grounded in his faith. Dennis was also very proud of his Arkansas roots and his Scottish heritage. This fueled his desire to continue tracing his genealogy.

He was a member of Town & Country Christian Church where he and Sherry married, then moved their membership to Southside Baptist Church.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sherry Dossey; and his brothers, Harold Dossey and Edward Dossey.

He is survived by his children: Stephen Dossey; Aaron Dossey and wife Quincee; Brian Dossey; Rachel Milner and husband Bill; Waynoka Cabral; Jon Dossey; and Daniel Dossey. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Everett Dossey, Eloise Dossey, Mason Dossey, Lily Dossey, Sierra Dossey, Abigail Milner, Noah Dossey, Hope Dossey and Zoey Dossey; his sisters, Martha Parris and husband Danny and Connie Allen and husband Rick.

Visitation was held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025, at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, at Town and Country Christian Church, with interment following at Beggs Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Dennis’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
