Lady Demons show fight in home loss
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Beggs Lady Demons continued to show growth and grit Friday night inside Demon Dome, battling a deep and disciplined Metro Christian Lady Patriots squad before falling 59-27 in a regular-season matchup. Despite the final score, the Lady Demons competed for all four quarters against a Metro Christian team that applied steady pressure and converted consistently on the offensive end. Beggs never backed down, using improved ball movement and defensive effort to string together positive stretches against one of the area’s tougher opponents.

Metro Christian set the tone early, opening the game with a strong first quarter and taking a 14-2 lead after eight minutes. The Lady Patriots’ pressure defense disrupted Beggs’ offensive rhythm early, but the Lady Demons settled in during the second quarter, finding better spacing and attacking the lane with more confidence.

Emmabreah Triplett provided an early spark for Beggs, scoring five points in the second quarter as the Lady Demons worked to counter Metro Christian’s athleticism. Rylen Wesley added four points in the period, helping Beggs score nine points in the quarter and show improved offensive flow. Metro Christian, however, continued to capitalize in transition and carried a 31-11 lead into halftime.

Beggs came out of the locker room with renewed energy in the third quarter. Triplett caught fire, scoring six of her game-high 12 points in the period, while Padon Stallings knocked down a key basket to help the Lady Demons match Metro Christian’s intensity for stretches. The Lady Patriots edged the quarter 14-9, but Beggs’ effort and execution showed noticeable improvement.

In the fourth quarter, Kamya Stallings made her presence felt, scoring four points and attacking the basket with confidence as Beggs continued to play aggressively until the final horn. Metro Christian closed the game with another 14-point quarter, using depth and experience to maintain control.

Head coach Vaughn Blankenship praised his team’s effort following the game, noting the Lady Demons’ willingness to compete and make adjustments throughout the contest.

Triplett led Beggs with 12 points, showing a balanced scoring approach across all four quarters. Kamya Stallings finished with six points, while Padon Stallings added five. Wesley contributed four points and helped steady the offense during key stretches.

While Metro Christian’s pressure and depth proved to be the difference, the Lady Demons took valuable steps forward, particularly on the offensive end, where ball movement and shot selection improved as the game progressed.

Beggs will look to build on Friday’s effort as the Lady Demons continue their regular-season schedule after the Christmas break, using the experience gained against a quality opponent to sharpen execution and confidence moving forward. Fans can catch Beggs back in action Jan. 6 on the road to face Hilldale.
