Lady Demons top Okmulgee
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Backed by an energetic and pumped up crowd at Brock Gymnasium, the Beggs Lady Demons delivered a complete performance Friday night, controlling the tempo from start to finish in a 57-26 victory over the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs in a regular-season county rivalry matchup. Beggs improved to 3-3 on the season with the win while Okmulgee fell to 0-3, as the Lady Demons used balanced scoring and consistent defensive pressure to pull away early and extend the margin in each quarter.

Beggs established con- trol in the opening period behind the scoring of Padon Stallings and Kamya Stallings. The duo combined for eight points in the first quarter as Beggs jumped out to a 12-6 lead. Okmulgee stayed within reach early, with Tiah Harjo and Jordiana Franklin accounting for all six Lady Bulldogs points in the opening frame.

The Lady Demons widened the gap in the second quarter. Emmabreah Triplett and Rylan Wesley provided offensive support, while Kamya Stallings continued to attack the basket. Beggs outscored Okmulgee 17-11 in the period, taking a 29-17 advantage into halftime. Kyndal Smith led Okmulgee in the quarter with five points, but the Lady Bulldogs struggled to sustain scoring possessions against Beggs’ pressure.

Any hopes of a second-half comeback were quickly challenged by Beggs’ consistency on both ends of the floor. Kamya Stallings scored six of her game-high 18 points in the third quarter, while Padon Stallings added two more as Beggs extended the lead with a 12-7 advantage in the period. Okmulgee found points from Alice Wise and Jordiana Franklin, but the Lady Demons’ defensive rotations limited clean looks and kept the margin growing.

Beggs continued to assert control in the fourth quarter, outscoring Okmulgee 16-2 to close out the contest. Padon Stallings scored five points in the final eight minutes, while Triplett and Abigail Harmon added timely baskets. The Lady Bulldogs managed just one field goal in the quarter, coming from Wise, as Beggs maintained composure and closed the game efficiently.

Kamya Stallings led all scorers with 18 points, scoring in every quarter and setting the tone for Beggs throughout the night. Padon Stallings followed with 11 points, while Triplett added 10. Rylan Wesley finished with seven points, Harmon scored six, and Mylah Williams chipped in five as Beggs showcased scoring balance across the lineup.

For Okmulgee, Wise led the team with six points, scoring in three different quarters. Smith and Franklin each added five, while Destini Monteque finished with four. Harjo accounted for three points in the opening quarter, and Kemri Penn and Kennedy Penn rounded out the scoring.

Beggs head coach Vaughn Blankenship credited his team’s execution and balance, while Okmulgee head coach Bobby Nealy Jr. continued to evaluate lineups early in the season.

In a rivalry fueled by local familiarity and an engaged crowd, Beggs’ ability to set the tone early and maintain control throughout proved decisive as both teams continue regular-season play. — Beggs Stats
