Green Country to offer short-term Microsoft Word, Excel courses

Green Country Technology Center (GCTC) is offering two upcoming short-term computer skills courses designed to help individuals and local small businesses strengthen everyday workplace productivity. The courses focus on foundational skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel – two of the most widely used software programs in business, education and office settings.

Both courses are affordable, practical, and structured to provide hands-on instruction in a short amount of time. Each class includes six total hours of instruction and concludes with a Certificate of Completion. According to GCTC, class space is limited and enrollment is already filling quickly.

— Microsoft Word – Level 1

The Microsoft Word – Level 1 course is scheduled for Jan. 27 and 29, 2026, meeting on Tuesday and Thursday. The total cost for the course is $90, and instruction will span six hours across the two sessions.

This course is designed for individuals who want to build or strengthen their basic Word skills for everyday business and office use. Instruction will cover how to create, format, and properly set up documents, along with learning how to work with tables and graphics. These skills are commonly used in preparing letters, reports, forms and other professional documents. Participants who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion, recognizing their training in Microsoft Word fundamentals.

— Microsoft Excel – Level 1

Following the Word course, Green Country Technology Center will offer Microsoft Excel – Level 1 on Feb. 3 and 5, 2026, also meeting on Tuesday and Thursday. Like the Word class, this course includes six total hours of instruction and costs $90.

The Excel course is designed for individuals seeking a strong foundation in spreadsheet use. Topics include basic calculations, formatting worksheets, saving and sharing files and printing spreadsheets. These core skills are essential for tasks such as tracking expenses, managing data, and organizing infor- mation in a business or office environment.

Participants will also earn a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the Excel course.

— Enrollment Information

Both courses are intended to be accessible and beneficial for small business owners, employees and anyone looking to improve practical computer skills for the workplace. Green Country Technology Center encourages interested individuals to enroll early due to limited class space.

For enrollment or additional information, participants may call 918-758-0840.
