Beggs JH and middle school basketball teams filled the gym Dec. 8th, with a full evening of competitive action against Morris, delivering performances across all grades that showcased teamwork, scoring depth and individual effort. From the 5th graders to the 8th graders, each matchup offered exciting plays and standout contributions from a wide range of players.
The night opened with the 5th grade Lady Demons taking on the Morris Lady Eagles. Aleah M. provided the team’s only points with two in the second quarter, but Morris pulled away to a 24-2 victory. The 5th grade Demons proved to be too much for theMorris 5th grade Eagles, winning 18-11. Brayden led the team with 13 points, Isaac contributed two points in the fourth quarter, Calvin scored three in the third and Ian added two points in the first, giving Beggs a balanced attack that carried the day.
The 6th grade Lady Demons used consistent scoring to defeat the Morris 6th grade Lady Eagles 14-4. Ellie led the way with eight points, scoring in the first, second and fourth quarters, Kenidy contributed four points in the first and fourth and Kadee added two points in the third. Meanwhile, the 6th grade Demons dominated Morris 18-4, with #0 scoring 11 points across the first, third and fourth quarters. #11 added two points in the first, #1 contributed three points in the second and third and #4 scored two points in the third quarter.
The 7th grade contests saw mixed results for Beggs. The Lady Demons opened strong with a 22-10 win over Morris, highlighted by Paisley Williams’ 20 points spanning all four quarters and Madi Jones contributing two in the fourth. The 7th grade Demons fell 28-15, with #1 scoring five points, #2 adding five, #3 contributing three and #00 adding two points. Despite the loss, several players showed effort and determination throughout the contest.
The 8th grade matchups closed the day with close contests. The Lady Demons dropped a 12-9 game to Morris, with Patience Stallings scoring four points, Gracie Jackson contributing four and Scarlett Tenison adding one. The 8th grade Demons provided a thrilling 47-45 victory over the Morris 8th grade Eagles. #1 led the scoring with 12 points, #10 added nine, #4 scored eight, #12 and #14 contributed four points each, #13 added three, #33 scored three and #2 added two. Each player’s contribution proved vital in securing the narrow win.
Across all grades, Beggs showcased a wide array of contributors. From strong individual scoring efforts to effective teamwork and court awareness, the day highlighted not only wins but also the growth and development of each squad.
While some teams faced losses, the overall experience offered valuable lessons in strategy, coordination and competitive play. The combination of commanding victories, close games and individual performances provided Beggs players with a full day of learning and memorable moments. Fans and families enjoyed a day of exciting basketball, witnessing each grade compete with energy and effort.
