This report is a summary of activities Okmulgee County Emergency Management (OCEM) participated in and does not reflect all activities performed by or participated in by Okmulgee County Emergency Management.
— Government & Stakeholder Engagement
Personnel attended the Board of County Commissioners meeting and supported conversations with county officials regarding emergency management initiatives, priorities and operational preparedness.
— Floodplain Management & Public Assistance
OCEM received and responded to three floodplain inquiries from community members and developers requesting clarification on building and development requirements within regulated floodplain boundaries.
Staff provided technical guidance consistent with Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) development standards, permitting requirements and applicable regulations.
— Emergency Response & Humanitarian Support The OCEM/Red Cross response team was activated for two residential structure fire incidents within the county.
Documented incident impacts:
• Two structures defined as total losses
• Ten displaced residents • Two individuals transported to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries In coordination with Red Cross partners, responders initiated temporary housing assistance and resource coordination for all affected individuals.
— Weather Monitoring & Preparedness OCEM staff monitored approaching regional weather systems presenting a potential for wintery-mix precipitation, including concerns for roadway impacts and public safety considerations.
Situational awareness was sustained through forecast briefings and communication with state and regional emergency management partners.
— Continuity of Operations
Administrative offices were closed Nov. 26-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
OCEM operations remained ongoing throughout the closure period on an as-needed basis, ensuring continuous monitoring and response support when required.
— Operational Readiness & Ongoing Coordination Okmulgee County Emergency Management continues to:
• Maintain interagency coordination with county leadership, fire, EMS and humanitarian response partners
• Provide floodplain regulatory guidance and risk-reduction information to the public
• Monitor weather conditions and emerging county hazards
• Sustain a surge-ready posture to support county emergency and disaster response operations
