The Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority (OCCJA) continued one of its most meaningful traditions last week, hosting its annual Thanksgiving Lunch and bringing together a broad network of county leaders, staff, board members and community partners to share a warm holiday meal with the incarcerated.

Volunteers from multiple sectors – including county commissioners, OCCJA board members, vendors and representatives from agencies across Okmulgee County – worked side-by-side to serve a full Thanksgiving spread.

According to OCCJA leadership, the day is about much more than food. It is a chance to pause, reflect and appreciate the people who keep the county’s justice and public safety system moving.

“Days like this remind us how thankful we are for the people we get to work with every day,” organizers shared. “The presence, support and effort of so many individuals make moments like this possible.”

Organizers said the growing turnout each year demonstrates how valued the tradition has become.

“We are truly grateful to everyone who took time to be part of today’s effort,” they said. “We look forward to seeing this tradition continue to grow for years to come.”

As the holiday season begins, OCCJA’s Thanksgiving Lunch stands as a reminder of the compassion and teamwork that define Okmulgee County, and the dedication of those who work each day to serve and support their community.
