Ott and Jill Holleman, pictured on their wedding day in El Paso, Texas 56 years ago, are celebrating their 56th anniversary. Randy Holleman, Ott’s brother, served as best man, and Carrie Anna Holleman Mabrey, Ott’s sister, stood with Ott and Jill while the company commander at Fort Bliss in Texas performed the wedding ceremony. Ott and Jill were later stationed in West Berlin, Germany, where Ott was assigned to Service Company USAREUR, less than a mile from where President Reagan told Mr. Gorbachev to “tear down that wall.” Jill and Ott had many friends in West Berlin, and they once traveled to East Berlin where the Russian Guards checked their papers at Checkpoint Charlie, now a historic landmark. Jill is a Nurse Practitioner with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health and is a proud member of the Muscogee Nation, as are all of their children, Heather, Cassie, Brianne, Ott III and Luke.
