MGA triumphs at Mannford competition

The Mojo Grappling Academy (MGA) turned a disappointing cancellation into a triumphant outing last weekend, competing in the Mannford Black Flag Brawl, after the scheduled Henryetta tournament was called off. Despite a reduced roster, the MGA showed resilience, sending 15 athletes to the mat, with an impressive 11 competitors bringing back hardware.

— Championship Victories

The MGA celebrated two champions who took home the gold:

• Lillian Primeaux: Lillian captured her second straight tournament championship, going 2-0 in her 15UG 165lb round-robin bracket, which included one pin.

• Colton “Colt 45” Tecumseh: Colton was the other champion of the day, securing a 2-0 record in his 12U 67lb round-robin bracket, also with one pin.

• Aryzona “Nona” Cummings was a standout, placing in two divisions.

• She went 1-1 with one pin in her 10UN 120126lb Novice division to capture second place.

• In her 10UG 115lb girls division, she went 3-1 with two pins. Nona fought through the wrestlebacks and got revenge on the girl who put her in the consolation bracket, winning by major decision for a third-place finish.

• Second Place Finishers: Maesa Brigge (two pins), “Bro” Autumn Brigge (one pin) and Raelynn Traweek (two pins) all finished 2-1 to secure second place in their respective divisions. Teammate Kannon Engelhardt also earned a silver medal, going 1-1 with one pin.
