On January 29, 1947, Geraldine (Jones) Williams and Johnnie Jordan welcomed Carolyn Jo Jordan into the world. She was primarily raised in Nuyaka by her great-grandparents, Almonia and John Turner, Sr. She graduated from Nuyaka’s Black High School. After graduating, Carol Jo went straight to work. Carol Jo was employed at Ford as a forklift driver, a position she truly enjoyed, and later retired from Ford after many years of dedicated service. She also worked as a caregiver for many years.
Carol Jo loved fishing, traveling and going to the casino. She never hesitated to get in her car and drive from state to state. She was an amazing cook who enjoyed preparing big meals and inviting family over to share good food and conversation. Carol Jo also had a passion for both fancy and old-school cars, and showing them off always brought her joy.
In 1975, Carol Jo married Robert Williams of Tulsa, and together they made Okmulgee their home during their union. She loved his daughter Kim, of Dallas, as if she were her own.
After her first union came to an end, Carol Jo found love with Douglas McCall of Shreveport, La. They married in 1980. Together, Carol Jo and Doug combined their talents and created “McCall’s Pit on Wheels” in the 1980s. Their food truck became well known for its fresh smoked meats. She often said, “Meat so tender, a baby could eat it.” During this time, they also helped raise three of Carol Jo’s nieces: LaRhonda Jones of Okmulgee, DeShanna Colbert of Glenpool and Geraldine Jones of Tulsa.
Although Carol Jo never gave birth to a child of her own, she was blessed with a baby boy to raise her great-nephew Trelon Motte-McCall.
She lovingly guided him through life and January 29, 1947 – November 5, 2025
cherished his every move. Trelon graduated from Okmulgee High School in 2017 and joined the Army. He now resides in Colorado with his wife and their three children.
She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and often spoke fondly of the powerful sermons delivered by Pastor White of Okmulgee. She would say that attending those services was one of the things she missed most after moving to Tulsa.
On November 5, 2025, the voice of the Lord called Carol Jo home. Welcoming her at Heaven’s gates were her parents, Geraldine and Johnnie; her stepfather, Charles E. Jones, Sr.; her grandparents, Nellie Grimes and John (Soon) Williams; her maternal great-grandfather, William Grimes; her great-grandparents, Almonia Turner and John Turner, Sr.; her greatgreat- grandparents, Gilbert Thomas and Mary Jane Hunter; five sisters, Jerri Jones-Godeau, Charlesetta Jones, Aldora Jones-Colbert, Arenetta Jones-Bruner, and Florence Jones-Williamson; and one brother, Dick Gregory Jones.
She leaves to celebrate her life: her son, Trelon Motte-McCall of Colorado; six younger brothers, Charles E. Jones, Jr. (Marilyn) of O’Fallon, Ill.; John Jones (Lisa) of Okmulgee, Mark Jones of Tulsa, Johnnie Sharper (Belinda) of Gonzales, La.; Johnnie Matthew Jordan, Jr. of Topeka, Kansas; and Dejon Slaughter of Kansas City, Mo.; four younger sisters, Wanda “Faye” Hendricks of Tulsa, Brenda Carter of Okmulgee, Michelle Avery Bey of Topeka, Kansas; and Joanna Hurst of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; her best friend, Esther (Tish) Hollier; and a host of cousins and many friends.
