Can we give Chubbs the home he deserves before the holidays?

Can we give Chubbs the home he deserves before the holidays?

As the holiday season approaches, many of us feel that familiar pull toward home – toward warmth, comfort and the people (and pets) who make life a little sweeter. For one very special dog in our care, that longing is especially strong.

His name is Chubbs, and he has been patiently waiting for months.

Chubbs is the kind of dog you meet once and remember forever: a gentle, affectionate Mastiff mix with soulful eyes and a touch of wise grey beginning to grace his muzzle. At roughly two years old, he’s past the puppy phase and firmly in his “chill companion” era – a fact that makes it all the more surprising that he continues to be overlooked.

Chubbs checks every box. He is calm, loyal, sweet as can be, and happiest when he’s curled up on a couch beside his favorite people. He doesn’t need much – just a soft spot to snooze, a little love, and a family willing to give him the forever home he’s been dreaming of.

Despite his wonderful temperament, Chubbs has spent many days in boarding. And while he’s been an absolute gentleman during his stay – staff regularly describe him as brave, friendly, and endlessly loving – we know he would shine even brighter in a home of his own.

Here’s what makes Chubbs truly special:

• Affectionate & Loving: Chubbs adores people and forms deep bonds quickly. He’s the kind of dog who leans in for hugs and nuzzles your hand for more pets.

• Gentle with Others: He does beautifully with children, is comfortable around cats and enjoys the company of female dogs. His heart is big enough for everyone.

• Calm & Couch-Approved: If you’re hoping for a mellow companion rather than a high-energy pup, he’s your guy. His favorite place in the world is right next to someone he loves.

• Loyal & Brave: Like many Mastiff mixes, Chubbs has a loyal, steady presence. He’ll be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your quiet everyday companion.

• Resilient: Chubbs is currently undergoing heart worm treatment – a process he is handling with his usual good-natured patience. His treatment is fully supported, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

There is nothing wrong with Chubbs. He isn’t “too old,” “too big,” or “too complicated.” He is simply a good dog who hasn’t met the right person yet. But we’re hoping – truly hoping – that this holiday season will change that.

Imagine Chubbs finally getting to snooze under the glow of a Christmas tree. Imagine him discovering his new backyard or greeting his new family at the front door with that wide Chubbs smile. Imagine him finally stretching out on *his* couch after months of waiting.

We believe there is someone out there for Chubbs – someone who wants a loyal friend, a softhearted companion, a dog who gives love freely and asks for very little in return. If that might be you, we’d be honored to introduce you.

To fill out an adoption application for Chubbs and to meet our other adoptable pets, please visit OKCOHumane. org/adopt. This holiday season, help us give Chubbs the greatest gift of all: a family.
