The Okmulgee Lions Club proudly dedicated its weekly luncheon on Tuesday to honor local veterans, welcoming several special guests who shared their personal stories of military service and sacrifice.
Lions Club President James Thompson, himself a U.S. Army veteran, opened the meeting by expressing gratitude to the veterans and their families for their dedication to the nation. The luncheon also included a round of Bingo that added a lighthearted touch to the day’s heartfelt theme. Three lucky winners claimed prizes from the club’s traditional “treasure chest.”
The program featured moving remarks from several guest speakers representing multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Dr. Ed Osborn spoke about his experiences in the U.S. Marine Corps, Charles Otto represented the U.S. Navy and Ron Martin shared insights from his time in the U.S. Army. Each veteran reflected on how their service shaped their values, outlook, and lifelong commitment to community.
Also recognized during the event were James Thompson (Army), Larry Howell (Navy), Josh Caudle, Sergeant-at-Arms for American Legion Post 10, Rob Coer, Vice Commander of American Legion Post 10 and Cassander Northington (Navy).
President Thompson invited everyone present to speak about family members or friends who had served, creating a touching atmosphere of remembrance and gratitude.
“The Okmulgee Lions Club was honored to host these veterans today and support them and their families,” the club stated. “Their service reminds us all of the true meaning of dedication and sacrifice.”
The Okmulgee Lions Club continues its long-standing tradition of community service and support, embodying its motto, “We Serve,” by recognizing those who have served our nation with pride and courage.
