The Okmulgee Salvation Army, located at 111 E. 8th Street, is putting out an urgent call for community support as its food pantry shelves run low. The organization continues to serve a growing number of families and individuals who rely on the pantry for daily meals and essential nutrition.
With colder months approaching and food insecurity on the rise, the Salvation Army is asking all who can to lend a helping hand by donating nonperishable food and pantry staples.
— High-Need Items Among the most-needed items are peanut butter, jelly, canned meats, soups, fruits and vegetables, along with spaghetti noodles and sauces, rice and dry or canned beans. Other shelf-stable goods like boxed mac and cheese, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, cake mixes, icings, ramen noodles, crackers, snack puddings and shelf-ready milk are also in high demand.
In addition, household essentials such as boxed stuffing mix, bottled water and snack cakes or crackers are welcomed donations that help round out the pantry’s meal boxes distributed weekly to those in need.
— How to Help
Donations can be dropped off directly at the Salvation Army office, 111 E. 8th Street in Okmulgee, during regular business hours. Every contribution – no matter the size – helps ensure that no one in the community goes hungry.
