Landmark for All Generations would like to extend its deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for our recent Homecoming and Open House event on Saturday, Oct. 25. The celebration was a beautiful success, filled with meaningful moments, shared memories and renewed excitement for the future of this historic Okmulgee landmark.
We were honored to welcome so many visitors local residents, alumni and guests from near and far – who came to celebrate the history and legacy of the former Okmulgee Black Hospital. Your presence, stories and enthusiasm helped make the day truly special as we continue working to preserve and honor this vital part of our community’s heritage.
A very special thank you goes out to the dedicated volunteers who made the event possible through their hard work during our community clean-up. Your time and effort ensured the building and grounds were ready to shine for visitors.
We especially wish to recognize Covington Aircraft for generously providing a trailer and hands-on help in the cleanup efforts, and Casey’s for keeping our hardworking crew fueled with delicious pizza. Your community spirit embodies the very heart of what Landmark for All Generations represents.
Thanks to all who continue to support this project and the legacy it represents. Together, we are carrying forward the vision of the late Leman Lewis, Sr., as his son Robert Lewis, his wife Jillian and the Landmark board work to ensure that the former hospital remains a living symbol of resilience, history, and hope for generations to come.
