Okmulgee community members recently gathered for a practical and informative estate-planning workshop aimed at helping families secure their financial future and avoid unnecessary hardship. The session, titled Estate Planning 101: Wills, Trust and Probate, provided attendees with a relaxed, yet empowering opportunity to learn how proper planning can protect loved ones and preserve wealth.
Hosted by Tamarisk Financial Services, the presentation highlighted essential legal and financial tools that every adult should consider – from drafting a will and establishing power of attorney, to understanding the role of healthcare directives and the potential pitfalls of probate. Participants learned the key differences between wills and trusts, the consequences of not having any estate plan in place, and how to ensure families are prepared both financially and emotionally for the future.
The session also included a live Q&A allowing residents to speak directly with knowledgeable financial professionals.
Tamarisk Financial Services is led by founder Tamar Bibbs, a law-enforcement professional, life-insurance expert and wife of a military veteran. Bibbs’ experience in public service inspired her mission to help others build generational wealth and prepare for life’s uncertainties. Her business focuses on serving families, seniors, caregivers, veterans and purpose-driven professionals by offering faith-centered support in areas such as retirement planning, insurance, tax strategy, and estate protection.
The workshop was well-received, and organizers say there is strong interest in bringing Bibbs back to Okmulgee soon for another session – one that would again be open to the public and designed to ensure more local residents have access to critical planning tools and peace of mind.
