Belvin Baptist Church will mark a remarkable milestone in its ministry with a special celebration on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m., commemorating the church’s 50th anniversary. The event will take place at 320 N. Mission Ln. in Okmulgee, honoring five decades of faith, fellowship and community service.
The day’s observance will include prayer, music and a reading of the church’s history, followed by a fellowship lunch for all attendees.
The anniversary service will open with a Mvskoke hymn performed by members of Belvin Baptist Church, followed by a welcome and prayer from Pastor Jordan Kanuho. Congregational singing will set a joyful tone before Esther Gee shares a reading of the church’s history – reflecting on its roots, growth and enduring impact within the Okmulgee community.
Special music will be provided by the Native Praise Choir, a celebrated group known for its heartfelt worship through Native- language hymns. The service will also include performances by Darrell Proctor, Jr. and the Belvin Baptist Choir, blending traditional and contemporary gospel elements in celebration of the church’s legacy. A closing prayer will be offered by Steve Wahnee.
The anniversary will also pay tribute to the pastors who have faithfully led Belvin Baptist Church through the years, including:
• Rev. Kellos Walker
• Rev. Randy Colbert
• Rev. Willie Pigeon (Mvskoke Hymn)
• Rev. Dennis Bible (Cherokee Hymn)
• Rev. Jordan Kanuho (Pawnee Hymn) A plaque presentation will be made by Rev. Emerson Falls in honor of the church’s service to its members and the wider community. The ceremony will conclude with a Hand of Fellowship dismissal, symbolizing unity and gratitude among congregants and guests.
As the congregation celebrates 50 years of ministry, the event promises to be both a joyful reunion and a moment of reflection – celebrating the past while looking forward to the future of continued service and faith.
Community members, former members, and friends are warmly invited to attend.
