SPECIAL TO THE TIMES
Dragons torch Quinton in another first-half rout The Dewar Dragons didn’t bother with suspense Friday night – they set the fire early and never let it fade, demolishing the Quinton Savages 46-0 in a game that officially ended at halftime.
From the first whistle, all signs pointed toward a Dewar runaway. The Dragons jolted the home stands to life immediately with a kickoff return taken all the way to the end zone for the opening score, followed by a successful two-point try to make it 8-0 within minutes.
Dewar’s defense made sure Quinton’s offense never found daylight. After a quick threeand-out on the Savages’ first possession, the Dragons needed only a short field to build on their lead. Braelin Lewis plowed in for his first rushing touchdown with just over four minutes left in the opening quarter, and a completed two-point pass from Peyton Kilhoffer to Jojo Waters made it 16-0.
Quinton briefly recovered a failed onside kick, but Dewar’s defense again stood tall. Before the quarter expired, Lewis struck again – another touchdown run paired with a two-point rush stretched the lead to 24-0 after one.
The second quarter brought more of the same: quick stops on defense and gashing runs on offense. After turning Quinton away on downs, Dewar needed just one play for Lewis to punch in his third touchdown of the night, making it 30-0.
Moments later, a forced fumble opened the door for the Dragons to strike again – this time with Kilhoffer using his legs for an 8-yard scoring run. Tanner Wilson converted the two-point attempt to push the margin to 38-0.
The air attack joined the fun on the next possession, as the quarterback delivered a 13-yard scoring strike to Roman Dale. Another rushing conversion made it 46-0, and with just under six minutes before the half, the inevitable became clear.
The teams headed to the locker room and – with a running clock and the margin already well beyond reach – the contest was called at halftime.
Dewar scored touchdowns on six first-half possessions while its defense pitched a complete shutout, forcing multiple punts, a fumble recovery, and repeated turnover-on-downs situations.
The Dragons’ undefeated streak continues, as their explosive offense and disciplined defense show no signs of slowing down. With momentum surging and scoreboard lights burning bright every Friday night, Dewar once again made its message loud and clear: If you’re lining up across from the Dragons right now, prepare to get burned.
— Dewar blasts Canadian 52-0 behind offense, trick-play magic The Dewar Dragons delivered another master- class performance Oct. 16 on the road, overpowering the Canadian Cougars 52-0 and once again ending the contest at halftime. Highlighted by a spectacular trick-play touchdown to start the evening, Dewar controlled every snap and showcased its deep roster of playmakers.
It took the Dragons only 12 seconds to put points on the board – and in unforgettable fashion. Quarterback Peyton Kilhoffer tossed a short pass to Braelin Lewis, who immediately pitched the ball back to Kilhoffer. With the defense fooled, Kilhoffer launched a strike to Jojo Waters streaking downfield for the game’s first touchdown. A successful conversion made it 8-0 before fans settled into their seats.
The big plays kept coming. Kilhoffer powered in a rushing touchdown from over 30 yards out midway through the first, and Waters found the end zone again late in the quarter after freshman backup QB/receiver Traber Jones hauled in a long pass to set up the score. Dewar led 22-0 after one.
If Canadian hoped the second quarter would bring relief, the Dragons offered none.
Kilhoffer located Joseph Moore in the red zone for a touchdown strike just 62 seconds into the period, and the two-point try pushed the lead to 30-0.
Jones then took over – and the freshman showed he belongs under the bright lights.
• Direct-snap rushing TD – 36-0
• 39-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Wilson – 44-0
• Another rushing score from a wildcat formation – 52-0 With 23 seconds remaining before the break, Dewar wrapped up the scoring and, soon after, wrapped up the night.
The Dragons’ defense allowed zero first downs and forced constant pressure, leading to multiple short-field opportunities that the Dewar offense ruthlessly converted into points.
