Lady Knights punch ticket to State

Runners from across eastern Oklahoma converged on Nichols Park in Henryetta Saturday for the 2025 OSSAA Regional Cross Country Championships. Athletes from Classes A, 3A and 4A competed in cool, clear fall weather on a course that wound through the park’s rolling hills and lakeside trails. For Okmulgee County schools, the event provided a strong showing of endurance, teamwork and regional-level competitiveness across divisions.

— Henryetta Results (Class 3A) Senior Stormi Waquie led the Lady Knights with a stellar 4th place finish, clocking 13:33.10 over the 3,200-meter course. She was followed by Camrynn Watkins (10th, 14:08.43), Peyton Wind (17th, 14:34.74), Peyton Bailey (21st, 14:42.04), Ashlynn Fulton (44th, 15:42.02), Olivia Owen (55th, 16:17.72) and Kaylee Mitchell (74th, 18:07.04).

The Lady Knights are now headed to State.

Throughout the season, the teams have demonstrated consistency and depth and Waquie’s top-5 performance highlighted her senior leadership and dedication to the program, marking one of the best individual finishes by a Henryetta runner in recent regional competition.

On the boys’ side, Cadyn Gillispie finished 31st in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:48.56, representing Henryetta’s continued effort to build a solid presence in regional long-distance competition.

— Dewar Results (Class A)

In the Class A girls’ division, Adena Fowler, a senior standout for the Dewar Lady Dragons, continued to display her athletic versatility by finishing 23rd overall with a time of 14:56.52, just over two minutes behind the race leader. Dewar teammates Paidan Farrow (71st, 17:34.64), Elainna Delacal (79th, 18:54.89), Adelynn Delso (82nd, 19:03.38) and Jessica Lee (99th, 22:29.23) rounded out the team’s performance, giving the Dragons a complete scoring lineup.

On the boys’ side, Parks Coble paced the Dewar Dragons with an impressive 17th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line in 19:40.17. He was followed by Remy Martin (46th, 21:16.04).

Coble and Fowler will be representing the Dragons this weekend at State.

— Wilson Results (Class A)

Wilson’s cross-country team made its mark on the Class A regional stage, led by Reese Herring, who finished 31st overall with a time of 15:18.15, and Allie Thompson, who crossed the line in 93rd place at 20:03.73. Both athletes represented the Tigers with determination in one of the largest 1A girls’ fields of the day.

For the boys, Rylan Hicks turned in a strong showing, finishing 43rd with a time of 21:03.27 – a commendable performance among more than 100 regional competitors.

— Beggs Results (Class 3A)

Beggs High School’s Isaiah Clay, a junior, represented the Golden Demons in the 3A boys’ division. Clay posted a competitive time of 19:05.28, placing 19th overall among 3A male runners.

— Regional Highlights

The regional meet brought together more than 675 runners across three OSSAA classifications.

• In Class A, Wister’s Aaliyah Nix captured the girls’ title (12:43.72), while Wright City’s Jaylon Hill won the boys’ 5K in 18:21.72.

• In 3A, Cascia Hall’s Ella Stoermer (12:47.15) and Sequoyah-Tahlequah’s Ogana Swimmer (17:09.54) took top honors.

• In 4A, Lincoln Christian dominated both divisions, with Tennyson Housley winning the girls’ race in 12:04.09 and Ty Brooks capturing the boys’ title with an impressive 16:40.69.

The OSSAA State Meet will be this Saturday, Oct. 25, at North Rock Creek in Shawnee.
