The stage is set for a hauntingly fun weekend in downtown Okmulgee, as OK Misfit Theater Co. presents its Halloween production, “A Misfit’s Halloween.” The community performance will take place this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at 420 E. 2nd Street (Dunbar Learning Center).
Director Kirsten Jackson invites everyone to join in for a night of spirited storytelling, eerie atmosphere and local talent. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and admission is free, though donations are appreciated to help offset production costs (the troupe notes they’re currently “$20 in the red”).
This year’s Halloween event features two themed shows under the series “Grimm Grinning Ghosts.”
• Show 1: “Tricks and Treats” – A lighter collection of spooky tales, featuring pieces such as The Raven and Skullcrusher Mountain. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 8 p.m.
• Show 2: “The Shadows We Hide” – A darker, more intense night of horror, recommended for mature audiences. Performances are set for Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. Viewer discretion is advised.
With gothic sets, eerie lighting and a mix of classic and original material, A Misfit’s Halloween offers something for everyone – from fans of lighthearted thrills to those who crave real scares.
The OK Misfit Theater Co. continues to build its reputation as a creative hub for grassroots performance art in Okmulgee, offering locals a place to experience live theater that’s quirky, community- driven and deeply passionate about storytelling.
