Okmulgee County Emergency Management Report

This report is a summary of activities Okmulgee County Emergency Management participated in and does not reflect all activities performed by or participated in by Okmulgee County Emergency Management.

— Board of County Commissioners Meeting Attended the regular Board of County Commissioners meeting to provide updates on ongoing emergency management projects, current grant activities and disaster recovery efforts. Discussed coordination with state and federal agencies regarding ongoing reimbursement processes and preparedness initiatives.

— American Red Cross Virtual Training

Participated in a virtual training hosted by the American Red Cross focused on disaster response operations, available resources and coordination procedures during large-scale incidents. The session provided valuable insight into Red Cross capabilities and strategies to enhance local response effectiveness.

— Red Cross Collaboration Meeting

Attended a collaborative meeting with a Red Cross Disaster Action Team member from Tulsa to strengthen local partnerships, review response protocols and improve coordination between local responders and Red Cross assets during future emergencies.

— Floodplain Managers & Government Officials Virtual Meeting Joined a virtual meeting with floodplain managers and government officials to discuss the potential impacts of the federal government shutdown on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Shared local concerns and received updates on mitigation efforts and contingency planning.

— Oklahoma Department of Labor Virtual Meeting Participated in a virtual meeting with Oklahoma Department of Labor representatives regarding new audit requirements. Reviewed compliance measures and documentation processes to ensure continued adherence to state and federal standards.

— FHWA ER Reimbursement Documentation Submitted required documentation to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Emergency Relief reimbursement related to April flood damage. Continued coordination with ODOT to ensure proper processing and reimbursement.

— Henryetta Amateur Radio Club Monthly Meeting

Attended the Henryetta Amateur Radio Club monthly meeting to discuss emergency communication support, resource coordination and collaboration during disaster events. Reinforced the importance of amateur radio operations in emergency communications.

— Okmulgee Pecan Festival

Participated in the Okmulgee Pecan Festival Touch-A-Truck community outreach event. Distributed public education materials on emergency preparedness, storm safety and the role of Emergency Management. Engaged with local residents to promote awareness and community readiness.

— Grass Fires

Responded to three grass fires within Okmulgee County during the week. Provided coordination and situational support to local fire departments, assisted with resource tracking and ensured public safety during suppression efforts.

— Monthly EMS Board Meeting

Attended the regular Okmulgee County EMS Board meeting to discuss ongoing emergency medical services operations, coordination with emergency management and future preparedness initiatives.

— Floodplain Development Coordination Continued collaboration with a private developer regarding proposed development within Okmulgee County that includes construction within the designated floodplain. Provided guidance on compliance with NFIP regulations and local floodplain management requirements.

— Floodplain Inquiries

Received and responded to seven public calls regarding building and development within floodplain areas:

• District 1: 3 inquiries

• District 2: 3 inquiries

• District 3: 1 inquiry Provided information on permitting requirements, elevation certificates and regulatory compliance under county floodplain ordinances.
