MPS bond passes with strong community support

Morris Public Schools’ $6.13 million bond proposition was approved in Tuesdays special election. The measure passed with 65.1% in favor (263 votes) and 34.9% opposed (141 votes), according to results released by Okmulgee County Election Board officials.

Superintendent Becky Alexander expressed heartfelt appreciation to voters for their confidence in the district’s vision for the future:

Dear Parents, Community Members, Staff and Students, What an incredible opportunity for Eagle Nation. I want to extend my deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to every voter who supported our school bond for the investment in today’s students. The passage of this bond is a collective investment that will directly translate into safe and better learning environments and expanded opportunities for every student in our district for decades to come. Your vote of confidence will make a difference for every student in the district-without increasing taxes for residents.

Thank you again for showing what is possible when a community unites for the success of its students. The future of our district is brighter today because of your unwavering support. We will continue to strive for excellence and know you are helping with this goal. I truly believe in our time is now Eagle Nation.

I am forever grateful to be an Eagle fan and have two children who are Eagle alumni!

Eagle Pride all day, every day!

Becky Alexander (Mrs. A) —
