Henryetta to host Cross Country Regional

Henryetta will serve as the site of this year’s Class A, 3A, and 4A Cross Country Regional Championships on Saturday, with races taking place at Nichols Park, just south of the golf course. Signs will be posted to guide teams and spectators to the designated entrances.

The event will feature some of the top high school runners from across eastern Oklahoma, including those from Henryetta, Beggs, Morris, Okmulgee and other regional schools. The meet is expected to draw a large crowd of athletes, coaches and families to the community.

— Schedule of Events

Competition will begin early with the Class 3A division, starting with the coaches meeting at 8:30 a.m.. The 3A girls’ race is set for 9 a.m., followed by the 3A boys at 9:45 a.m., with awards presented shortly afterward.

The Class 4A division will follow, with a coaches meeting at 10:30 a.m., the girls’ race at 11 a.m., and the boys’ race at 11:45 a.m. Awards for 4A runners will be presented soon after the final race.

The day will conclude with Class A competition, beginning with a coaches meeting at 12:30 p.m., followed by the girls’ race at 1:00 p.m. and the boys’ race at 1:45 p.m. Awards for Class A runners will immediately follow the races.

Due to ongoing construction at Nichols Park, both race courses will feature some modifications from prior years. Updated course maps are available to help teams prepare for the changes.

Teams are also asked to help ensure spectator safety and sportsmanship, particularly during the final stretch of each race. Coaches are urged to remind supporters not to run alongside participants, as this could interfere with competition and result in disqualification.

All buses must enter through the south entrance, while spectators will enter at the north gate. Both buses and vehicles will exit through the south entrance. Organizers encourage visitors to follow signage and staff instructions for smooth traffic flow throughout the day.

— Tickets & Admission

Spectators can purchase tickets online for $7 plus a small service fee via the OSSAA website at www. ossaa.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate for $10.

For additional information about the regional meet, contact Tim Gillispie at 918-906-7783 or via email at tgillispie@henryetta.k12.ok.us.
