Okmulgee County Football Roundup

Last week proved challenging for some Okmulgee County teams, while others found success on the gridiron. Fans witnessed a mix of high-scoring contests, dominant performances and tough losses across the county.

— Dewar Dragons regain the momentum

The Dewar Dragons continued their home dominance on Friday night, overpowering Savanna 56-0. The matchup marked the first time this season the Bulldogs were unable to get on the scoreboard. With the victory, Dewar improved to 4-2 overall, extending their impressive home winning streak to nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, the Dragons will face Canadian at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Canadian’s defense has struggled this season, allowing an average of 34.33 points per game, setting the stage for what could be another big offensive showing for Dewar.

— Okmulgee Bulldogs fall to Hugo The Okmulgee Bulldogs had a difficult night against the Hugo Buffaloes, falling 44-6. Okmulgee was outscored in every quarter, and by halftime, the score already sat at 44-0. The loss extends the Bulldogs’ losing streak to four games, dropping their record to 1-5.

Okmulgee will look to rebound when they face rival Prague at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The team will be hoping to snap the streak and find the end zone after a challenging run of games.

— Wilson Tigers edge Webbers Falls The Wilson Tigers continued their success against Webbers Falls on Friday, cruising to a 64-44 victory over the Warriors. The win improved Wilson’s record to 3-2 and snapped Webbers Falls’ five-game home winning streak, which had stretched back to last season.

The Tigers will celebrate Homecoming this week as they take on rival Arkoma at 7 p.m. Friday, looking to build on their momentum in front of the home crowd.
